God is The Creator and The Restorer. He is in the business of making things new. Just think about the promise that His mercies are new every morning. You were also made completely new as soon as you accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior.
2 Corinthians 5:17 AMP “Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life].”
Jesus was all about change and bringing new ways of thinking and acting during His time on earth. He displayed grace, love, and restoration that went against the customs of those times. He healed on the Sabbath and challenged legalism when following God. He brought reconciliation, relationship, and personal connection between us and God. He gave us the new commandment to love others as much as He loves us. He is not in the least done in giving us all things new!
We are all facing circumstances worldwide where the normal as we know it, is no more. Life cannot go back to how it was. Now is not the time to wish for things as they used to be. God remains in control and plans a future and a hope. We need to move forward, just like the Israelites had to leave Egypt behind for all God had promised. Even though they missed the familiar and could not envision all God had for them in the future, God led them to a new land. It is important not to get stuck in the old and comfortable. Let’s look forward to the future just as Paul did.
Philippians 3:13 TPT “I don’t depend on my own strength to accomplish this; however I do have one compelling focus: I forget all of the past as I fasten my heart to the future instead.”
Things are changing, and we need to change and adapt as well. God is for change, development, and growth.
Do not become a stagnant body of water. Such water becomes brackish, the organisms in that ecosystem die and the water has no use. But, with a continual flow of freshwater into that system, it is the opposite scenario. Not just survival, but growth, development, movement, and life. We similarly need the Holy Spirit to move within us, renewing us daily. Just as we are expected to change our awareness and behavior to promote the health and safety of ourselves and those around us, I believe that we can expect spiritual change as God wants to bring new spiritual insight and revelation within us.
Ephesians 4:23-24 TPT “Now it’s time to be made new by every revelation that’s been given to you. And to be transformed as you embrace the glorious Christ-within as your new life and live in union with him! For God has re-created you all over again in his perfect righteousness, and you now belong to him in the realm of true holiness.”
I believe that we will be asked to face the future with renewed strength, renewed hope, renewed faith, and new revelation. God wants to do something new, and for us to be part of that, we will have to be open to the changes God brings. I am not promoting conformity and extreme tolerance to all the world offers, but instead keeping to God’s Word and truth with a fresh infusion from the Holy Spirit. These changes start from within. New wine cannot be poured into old wineskins as one will lose both the wine and the skins.
Luke 5:36-39 TPT ”And he gave them this illustration: “No one rips up a new garment to make patches for an old, worn-out one. If you tear up the new to make a patch for the old, it will not match the old garment. And who pours new wine into an old wineskin? If someone did, the old wineskin would burst and the new wine would be lost. New wine must always be poured into new wineskins. Yet you say, ‘The old ways are better,’ and you refuse to even taste the new that I bring.”
So, don’t just survive and be complacent with the familiar. There is more. Be open to what God’s spirit wants to do next. Open your heart and spirit to new thinking, new revelation, new compassion, new opportunities, and new discoveries about God, and His Word. Be part of the new future and the change. There will always be new aspects to learn and to develop in our journey to become more like Christ.
Colossians 3:10 TPT “For you have acquired new creation life which is continually being renewed into the likeness of the One who created you; giving you the full revelation of God.”
Proverbs 18:15 TPT “The spiritually hungry are always ready to learn more, for their hearts are eager to discover new truths.”
Be ready my friend to do amazing and new things with and for God. Let’s have expectant hearts, ready to not only discover new truths from God but let’s allow it to change us, so we can take action and do something new for Him.
I pray that our eyes and ears will be open to follow where the Holy Spirit leads us to next and that we will respond to it with obedience and excitement. May we receive a fresh flow from the Holy Spirit to equip us to witness to the world in a new way. May we never become complacent, but always growing and moving forward to all God has planned in advance.
Stay resolute my friend.
