What is one of our responsibilities while we are waiting on God? When all hope seems lost, God encourages us to look to Him and to keep on believing. He requires us to have faith in Him, above all physical or earthly circumstances.
Jesus shared the promise of His death and resurrection with the disciples. But they did not understand His words. With His death, they felt anxious, it was dark, and they denied that they knew Him. At the cross, all seemed lost. Circumstances appeared dire and hopeless. Their interpretation of how Christ would triumph did not fit into the reality of what happened. But thank you, Jesus, that so much could happen and change in just three days!! He had a bigger and better plan and purpose. Those three days changed all of humanity. It all starts by putting your hope, faith, and trust (thus believing) Jesus as Lord and Savior. Keep on believing!
In Mark 5, Matthew 9, and Luke 8, we read of the synagogue official, Jairus. He asked Jesus to come and heal his daughter, who was on the verge of death. Jesus was on His way. Yet, He was held-up by the crowd and the healing of the woman with the issue of blood. Jairus then received the devastating news that his daughter had died.
“While He was still speaking, some people came from the synagogue official’s house, saying [to Jairus], “Your daughter has died; why bother the Teacher any longer?”
Mark 5:35 AMP
What are you waiting for? What are you trusting for? Have you perhaps received devastating news? Do you feel like giving up on hope?
Respond today like Jesus encouraged Jairus. Do not be afraid and keep on believing in Jesus Christ and that He is able. Even though the bearers of bad news said that Jesus should not be bothered further, God wanted Jairus to trust Him. Therefore, keep trusting God for what you need, believing that He will not fail. Remember that He is the God of the impossible, your shepherd and Heavenly Father. It is the best place to go for help because He is able and willing. Just keep believing.
“Overhearing what was being said, Jesus said to the synagogue official, “Do not be afraid; only keep on believing [in Me and my power].”
Mark 5:36 AMP
Jesus raised his daughter to life. He did the seemingly impossible. Jairus’ responsibility was to have faith and to keep believing in Jesus and His power as God.
I pray that we will choose to keep believing in Jesus and all He promises. The world may ask us to believe the contrary with all the negativity and crisis happening presently. Even when your flesh tells you it is a lost cause. Even when you feel anxious and disappointed in what you see around you. Even when you feel you cannot go through this agony, uncertainty, pressure and pain any longer. Jesus is saying to you today, as He did with Jairus. “Keep on believing in Me! Believe in the God of miracles.”
How do we believe? We choose to give our burdens and anxieties to God. We declare the Word and God’s promises over our circumstances. We remain grateful for all God has done. We pray in all circumstances. We remind ourselves of God’s faithfulness in our past. We ask for guidance and wisdom so we can follow in obedience. We trust in God’s way and His timing. Through it all, we praise His name, trusting and expecting our Heavenly Father to be true to His Word. Keep on believing!
Stay resolute my friend.
